The Caliburn GK2 pod kit is a new pod system launched by Uwell. This device is very handy and you can pretty much palm it. Caliburn GK2 is an updated version of the KOKO Prime series. It is the KOKO version of the Caliburn G2. The company follows a pattern of releasing devices: first comes a stick version (like the Caliburn A2), then a variant (like the Caliburn AK2), followed by another variant (like the Caliburn G2) a few months later. Most recently, they launched the GK2 version. This is actually the KOKO version of the Caliburn G2. The tag line for this device is ‘Enlighten Your Soul’.
What’s Inside the Box?
Uwell caliburn GK2 comes in a slim box and you could see the device inside the package. Inside the box you will have your device with one pod and coil pre-installed, you will get a second coil head, a lanyard and a USBC cable. You will also have a user manual, an attention card (how to fill pod?), a warning card and a warranty card.
Overall Built Features of Uwell Caliburn GK2
It is made out of plastic and you will have glass panels on the front and back. These glass panels light up while using the device. On the bottom of the device is your USBC charging port and little ventilation holes. On the front panel it says Caliburn with some beautiful design, while the back glass panel says KOKO, nice and big. These panels do not come off. The KOKO on back panel does light up while taking a draw and it’s your battery life indicator.
E-liquid Level Window & Lanyard Option
There is a small viewing window on the side so that you can see your e-liquid level. It has two airflow holes, one lies just below the window and one right next to the pod. There is a lanyard hook on the top corner of the device to put your lanyard.
Two UN2 Mesh Coils with Organic Cotton – MTL Hits
This kit comes with two UN2 coil heads, one is 0.8 Ohm and the other is 1.2 Ohm. Both are mesh coils with organic cotton and both of these coils vape fantastic. I guess they have offered the 0.8 for Lung Hits i-e restricted lung hit mode, a little bit warmer, more saturated vape and the vapor is great. If you use the 1.2 Ohm coil, you will observe that it works best for MTLs (Mouth to Lung). This device gives you a nice MTL and because it’s got adjustable airflow mechanism, the flavor you get off this in MTL mode is fantastic.
Lung Hits – Vapor and Flavor
You can also do Lung Hits with GK2 by simply adjusting the airflow wide open. This small kit surprisingly produces a large amount of vapor, and the flavors are really good. As mentioned, both the coils are fantastic. It would be appropriate to say that you cannot go wrong with the Caliburns. Uwell has done great with these Caliburns.
Light Weight & Pocket Friendly Uwell Caliburn GK2 Device
The KOKO GK2 is primarily made of plastic. There is nothing metal on this. The outside frame is plastic, the inside is also plastic and that’s why it is so light. This is a perfect good-to-go type of vape. You aren’t going to feel this in any of your pocket i-e front pocket, back pocket, side pocket, don’t matter, you are going to be comfortable with it on the go.
Holds 2ml of e-liquid – Filling the Pod
The GK2 includes a pre-installed pod that presses directly into the mod or body. The pod of this device is filled from the top, this top filling feature makes it more interesting. If you are on the go and you need to fill it up, all you got to do is literally crack the top so you need to push it hard and will snap right off. You will see a little membrane covering the filling port, simply stick a dropper in there or the nipple tip and can fill it up.
Fill the pod with up to 2ml of e-juice, then simply pop the cap/mouthpiece back on. It will click into place, signaling it’s ready to use. You will see another tiny hole opposite to the filling port, this is for the air to escape when you are filling so that you don’t have any pullback of the e-liquid. The filling port will fit pretty much every dropper that you have. The filling method is awesome and you can also fill it while it’s installed in the device.
How to Avoid Burnt Hits?
Make sure that the e-liquid does not get below that cotton level though because if does then it can burn out so be wary of your cotton level right there.
Draw Activated Mechanism in Uwell Caliburn GK2
Forget buttons! This device is draw-activated. So, simply inhale to use it. After filling the pod, insert it into the device and press it down. Lights will illuminate to confirm a secure installation. It’s literally; vape it until you see the light differences and then you need to charge it. These lights will also light up as you are vaping and it will cycle through the different colors.
Battery Life Indicator in Uwell Caliburn GK2
These lights are also your battery life indicator, so as you are vaping if it’s green that means it’s going to be 60 per cent or higher charge, if the light is blue that means it’s 30 to 60 per cent and if it’s red then it is going to be 30 per cent or lower.
Priming the Coil –The Device Vibrates as The Pod is Installed
You can put the pod in any way that you want, either side will work. When you install the pod it does vibrate and light up. After filling with e-liquid, wait 5-8 minutes for the coil and cotton to saturate completely before vaping.
Adjustable Airflow Wheel and Interchangeable Pods
This device comes with one pod but two coils, the pod is actually interchangeable with the Caliburn G2 as well as the Caliburn G. When the pod is new, you will find a sticker at the base, don’t forget to remove that before use. You will see a little red wheel there on side, this is actually the airflow wheel. All you have to do is just spin it and this will actually adjust your airflow. The airflow wheel is kind of small and if you have got thin nails this will be no problem at all, you can adjust your airflow according to your preferences. As already mentioned, this is the KOKO version of the Caliburn G2 so it’s giving you all that good stuff along with that adjustable airflow wheel. This was actually introduced with the Caliburn G2.
Coils Compatibility with Other Devices
The GK2 features UN2 mesh coils. The coil which is already installed is 1.2 Ohm Caliburn coil the UN2 and is rated for 9-13 Watts. This is the one that fits in pretty much all of the Caliburns. The extra coil is 0.8 Ohm, 13-18 Watts. This device does not have any type of Wattage change so it’s actually going to read it by the coil and of course depending on the charge of your battery. It’s going to have that type of fluctuation for you. They have three coils that are actually compatible with the device, the two that come with it and as well as their 1 Ohm coil. Either of those coils can be used in other Caliburns as well as in this one as well.
Battery and Charging
The device comes with a built-in battery of 690 mAh. It takes around 30 to 40 minutes to fully charge the battery and is capable of producing approximately 700-800 puffs. It could last whole day, depending upon your use.
Pros & Cons
The GK2 has some lights that light up while vaping, you can’t turn them off. That’s going to be the only con that one can actually find to the device. Everybody does not like the lights always, everything else is pretty much a pro. The flavor on the Caliburn coils are just amazing. Uwell makes some of the best coils, any of their devices whether it be the Caliburn original, Caliburn G, the Caliburn G2, all of the KOKOs and things like that, they are interchangeable for instance this pod is interchangeable with the G and G2 of the regular Caliburn.
Colors of Uwell GK2 Pod Kit
The Uwell GK2 comes in four vibrant colors i-e Aurora Green, Matte Black, Ocean Flame and Ribbon Red.
