Caliburn A2S is a new pod system from Uwell. It is comparatively simple and an entry level type of vaping device. It seems to be special because of the fact that they have added a special feature of rubber plug instead of the top fill. The Caliburn A2S is one of the budget friendly device, best suiting transitional vapors. Uwell is continuously improving their devices for the last couple of years, since the original Caliburn A2 came out. Each and every Caliburn down the line is a series of little improvements.
What’s inside the box?
Uwell Caliburn A2S comes in a simple box that has a little window so when the device is in there, you can see what color you are getting. Inside the box you will get a user manual, a warranty card, warning card/guide, a spare pod, bath salts and the device itself with the pod already installed. The extra pod is 1.2 Ohm; it is the same exact pod as already installed. You can purchase additional pods, they come in a four piece set in a box.
The New Pod and Coil – E-liquid Capacity
They have added a rubber plug to the side of the pod instead of top filling port. The pod has their new mesh coil, it’s a 1.2 Ohm coil. The pod holds 2ml of e-liquid. There is an arrow on both sides of the rubber plug to pull it up. It is a reasonably thick plug but some wonder why they got rid of the top fill. Don’t forget to remove the little sticker on the bottom of the pod before initial use. On the bottom, it says UN2, 1.2 Ohm 12 Watts. It does have a thin line as an indicator so that you don’t let the e-liquid go lower than that.
Overall Build and Features of Uwell Caliburn A2S
It is made out of Aluminum alloy and PCT-G. It says ‘UWELL’ on one side and ‘CALIBURN’ on the other side. The ‘Caliburn’ on the side lights up while the device is charging or in use. The device has a 15 Watt maximum wattage. The pods of A2S are compatible with the original A2, you can use the pods of the new version in the original A2 device. The mouthpiece is very comfortable. Uwell Caliburn A2S is an auto-draw only, whereas the original A2 was an auto and push-to-fire device.
Uwell Caliburn A2S vs Caliburn A2
A2S is the upgraded version over the Caliburn A2. With the A2 you can actually push to fire or you can auto draw on that. The A2 came with 0.9 Ohm mesh coil while the Caliburn A2S comes with a 1.2 Ohm mesh coil in it. The pod of A2S is compatible with the original A2. The difference between this one and the other Caliburns is that they went to side fill with this pod. It’s an easy side fill though, and it is really easy to open it up and fill. The original ones were all top fill.
Airflow Comparison
The airflow feels a little bit tighter if compared to the original A2, however it must be kept in mind that airflow is subjective as everyone has their own style of vaping and preference.
Fantastic MTL Device – Suitable for Any Kind of E-liquid
Uwell Caliburn A2S is a fantastic MTL (mouth to lung) vaping device with a comfortable mouthpiece. You can use any kind of e-liquid in this device i-e regular nic and non-nic salts, depending upon your choice.
E-liquid Level Window and New LED Lights – Battery Indicator
You have a viewing window in this device so that you can see your e-liquid level. The pod fits either way, you can put it either way and it’s going to show the same viewing window. The LED light on the original A2 was a tiny little bottom light but in the A2S the whole ‘CALIBURN’ word flashes. When you are vaping it, the lights will actually be going up and down with colored glow, depending on your battery level. When the light is green, it will be a battery level of 60% or greater. 30 to 60% will be blue and under 30% it will be red.
Pros and cons
They went to a side rubber plug fill method instead of their usual top fill method, some may find it as a con of this device but that depends on personal preference. In my opinion, this device is supposed to be a budget friendly device that’s why they are cutting expenses because to make the top fill it might cost a little bit of more money. There is no fire button on this device and they did add the lights up feature on the side, which is pretty cool. It’s your battery indicator.
When you are vaping the device, the ‘Caliburn’ written on side does light up. Compact size with no button is a big pro of this device. You get the Type-C charging, that’s definitely have to be a pro. 520 mAh battery is still on the lower side but with a 1.2 Ohm coil which is their new coil that they have inside, it’s going to last you the whole day or you can simply charge it for 10 to 15 minutes during the day and it will fulfill your requirements depending on your usage and how you vape.
Battery and Charging
Uwell Caliburn A2S Pod Kit comes with a 520 mAh built-in battery. It has a Type-C charging port on the bottom. This device does not come with a charging cable. It will take any Type-C charger; you don’t have to worry about that. It takes around 40 to 50 minutes to fully charge.
