Caliburn A3 is the new pod kit by Uwell. Markedly, Caliburn has been a popular pod system by Uwell and they have released the A3 few days ago. As many would be familiar that the A series is the one having non-replaceable coil and the G series is the replaceable coil one. Moreover, Caliburn A3 has got some similarities to the previous A2 but it’s got some differences too. In addition, the pod of this portable device holds 2ml of e-liquid. Furthermore, you can use it for both regular e-liquids and salt nics.
Inside the Box
Uwell Caliburn A3 pod kit comes in a simple box having specific color picture of the device it holds. Inside the packaging you will get a user manual, a warranty card, an attention card to show you proper filling method, bath salts, a spare pod and the device with the pod already installed.
Caliburn A3 Pod Specifications
The spare pod and the one already installed, both of the pods are 1 ohm pods. Moreover, the coils of these pods are not replaceable, they are throwaway pods. In addition, the pods of A3 hold 2 ml of e-liquid. These pods can fill easily. Just snap the cap/mouthpiece off and you would see the red membrane covering the filling hole. The other smaller hole on the opposite side is for air to escape as liquid goes in. If you take a close look of the pod you will find that this has actually been updated from the A2 pod. Basically the fill cap or the mouthpiece has been updated where it’s got a curve to it.
Priming the Coil
Priming the coil is highly recommended before initial use of any new device. The same applies to Uwell Caliburn A3; after filling e-liquid make sure to leave the pod for at least 5 to 10 minutes so that the cotton inside the coil gets fully saturated. You do have an opening in the device to see your e-liquid level in the pod.
Auto Draw Mode – Deactivating Fire Button of Caliburn A3
The main controlling part of A3 is the power/fire button. If you click it 5 times you could turn the device on, click it five times again the device turns off. Now while the device is on, if you click the power button two times, you will see a red light flashing at the bottom of the device, it means power button is disabled but auto draw is on. That’s a real cool feature of the new Caliburn A3.
Caliburn A3 and A2 – Pod Comparison and Compatibility
You will not feel that much of a difference between the A3 and A2 when you first hold them. But when you place it side by side with the A2, you are going to see the differences on the bottom and then the pod itself. Some people might ask, are they interchangeable? The answer is no; you will see that the pods of A3 has a cut out or swoop down while the pods of A2 are straight. If you try to place the A3 pods in the A2, it will not fit properly and will stick up without making contact. If you do try to place the A2 pods in the A3, you will see that it doesn’t fit as the pods are different. They don’t have the same dimensions and built.
Major Difference Between Uwell Caliburn A3 and Caliburn A2
The key difference between the A3 and A2 is that this device does have dual operation mode, something that most of enthusiasts were long waiting for. It means that you can use A3 as an auto draw device or manually through power button. Auto draw mode deactivates the power button and limits the device’s functionality to auto drawing. It’s a wonderful feature for this portable device.
Pros and Cons
The vaping community prefers Caliburn A3, which is a top fill device. Some might be comfortable with rubber plugs but most of the times top filling suits a lot of users. This device does have the glass window to see your e-liquid level. The main change between the A2 and A3 is that you have the ability to disable the fire button in A3 and use this strictly as an auto draw device. You don’t have to worry about it accidently or by-mistake firing inside your pocket. They have added this remarkable feature in this new A3 pod kit and that’s a huge pro.
It is almost the complete package of a pod system. Some people might miss a lanyard but that’s a personal preference as some people don’t mind portable devices having one. Another pro is to be the mouthpiece of A3, it’s not that big as compared to the G series. As it has a throwaway pod and the coil cannot be changed that might seem as a con otherwise the device is fantastic and works really great.

It vapes just like the previous model A2; you might not feel that much of difference but some think that A3 flavor and flavor has an improved quality.
