Uwell Crown B Build Quality and General Features
Uwell Crown B feels solid in hand and has a built-in 1150 mAh battery. It’s got plastic panels on the sides which has some coded design that says ‘Pro FOCS’ and underneath you have some lights. On the other edge it has a frame made of Zinc alloy. It feels a little beefy but not too heavy and still definitely pocketable. It has a superior built quality and does not feel cheap at all.
You have a fire button on the side with a little dial around it, for adjusting the power of the device. Down below the button is a little crown logo at the bottom. It has a USBC port at the base and this does have 2A charging. The top attaches the pod and the magnets hold it in. After removing the pod, you can see the contact magnets and a draw activation switch below, and your airflow hole in the side protruding from the mod. This device has a simple design that helps users to operate easily.
Pod Capacity and Coils Specifications
The pod of this new device can hold up to 3.5 ml of e-liquid. It takes replaceable coils and you have a replaceable drip tip option, it comes with a replaceable drip tip. The bottom of the pod and most of the other devices place the coils. You can get the coil out by sticking your nails and pull it out. The coil pre-installed is 0.3 ohm, rated for 25 – 35 watts and is a vertical mesh coil.
Restricted lung hit vaping is really nice with it. The other spare one is a 0.8 ohm, rated for 15 – 18 watts and it is also a vertical mesh coil. It has a little bit smaller inner diameter. When installing your coil, you have to align the flat edge of the coil with the flat edge on the pod and push it down so that it sits properly in its place.
Priming the Coil and Installing the Pod
It is recommended to prime the coil before initial use. Priming is easy and can be done by pouring couple of drops of e-liquid inside the coil so that cotton gets soaked. Installing the pod is easy, just place it on the top and it will attach magnetically producing a click. You can’t adjust your airflow when the pod is installed and neither can you fill it when the pod is installed. It must be kept in mind that you got to lift up the pod to fill and to adjust your airflow.
Side Fill Port
The fill port is situated on the side of the pod. It is a side filling port and is guarded by a rubber plug. It is pretty easy to fill but you do have to pull the pod out of the device. When you are done with filling, just plug rubber back and leave the pod for 5 to 7 minutes so that cotton inside the coil is fully saturated and you would be able to get great flavor and vapor without burning the coil.
Spare Drip Tip
The spare drip tip has a smaller bore, so if you use the higher ohm coil for tighter draw you can use this one. For looser draws with lower ohm coil it is better to use the drip tip with wider bore i-e the one pre-installed.
Adjustable Airflow
The airflow of this device comes in high so it is pretty much leak resistant. Crown B has a little adjustable airflow tab on the side of the pod.
Turning the Device On – Battery Charge Indicator
To turn the device on, click the power button 5 times. You will see lights on the side of the device as it turns on, these will go on when you are vaping. These lights will also act as a battery charge indicator. It will go from green to blue and to red depending on where your battery is at.
Uwell Crown B Three Different Power Levels
Uwell Crown B has three different power levels. In order to enter power settings, press the power button 3 times and the lights will blink showing your current power setting. Once you enter into power setting, twist the knob so you can go from green to blue or red. Blue is your medium power/heat setting, green is the highest while red is the lowest temperature setting. Most of the users prefer blue or the green but if you like the cooler vapes then you can go for the red.
Draw Activation Mode – Locking the Device
You can also lock the fire button by clicking the power button twice. It will lock the power button but the device will still work in draw activation mode i-e just take a draw and it will start working. It is quite nice if you put it in your pocket, there is no need to worry about accidently pressing the power button. Just pull it out of your pocket and you can use it in draw activation mode. The dial doesn’t work unless you press the fire button 3 times, only then it will let you cycle through the different power modes.
Uwell Crown B vs Crown M – Vapor and Flavor Quality
Uwell Crown B is a fantastic vape, perfect for medium restricted lung hit, exactly you would want from a pod mode like this. It has a really nice flavor with a perfect balance of warmth. The airflow on the Crown M is a little tight sometimes when you are trying to do that restricted direct lung, you couldn’t get that as open as from this new Crown device.
You can’t get a wide open draw with this one but more of a true medium restricted lung hit. The drip tips they give are very comfortable to use, you don’t accidently block airflow with these. You can get a really nice MTL vape out of this when the airflow is two-thirds of the way closed, which is quite surprising. A lot of pod mods are usually better at one thing than another thing, with this device you get a really nice and flavorful MTL vape but it’s great for direct lung as well.
Uwell Crown B Pros and Cons
Obviously the battery is not super large, it’s not as big as some of the other pod mods out there. It’s not going to be an all-day device as far as the battery life goes, if you are using the 0.3-ohm coil. You are going to need to charge it at some point during the day with the 0.3-ohm coil in use. But with the 0.8-ohm, that could potentially get you through a whole day of MTL vaping. It has a nice drip tip on it and comes with a spare drip tip with a narrow bore. If you are looking for an all-day MTL device, this is one of the best new options.
It would have been a lot better if you could adjust the airflow with the pod in place. It’s not a big deal but some may find it a con. You got to pull the pod up for filling as well. You don’t have a screen but you still have 3 steps of adjustable wattage. Having an adjustable airflow in this pocketable device is a pro. The button and the adjustment knob/wheel is really nice. It also got auto draw mode which is a huge pro. Draw activation works great on this and it is a really solid little pod mod with 2A charging.
Battery and Charging
It does not have a massive battery and comes with an internal 1150 mAh battery. It takes approximately 40 to 50 minutes to fully charge the battery.
