Yocan UNI Pro is a universal box mod by Yocan. If you are into vaping and you are looking for something nice to vape your e-juice, this is the product which allows you to vape your cartridges in the way you like. It is an updated version over the original Yocan UNI. The original model was pretty popular. So, Yocan decided to continue improving. They released Yocan UNI Pro with an LED screen, more features, improved design and a better button design. It is a cartomizer mod, designed more specifically for medicinal vaping. But you can use it for regular e-liquid if you have got a small enough tank. It has the same shape as the Aegis Solo but a smaller version. It seems that the ‘UNI’ in name stands for universal, not exaggerating. But the device is capable of accommodating almost all sorts of cartridges.
What’s Inside the Box?
Yocan UNI Pro comes in a premium packaging if compared to other devices of the same cadre. Inside the box you will find the Yocan UNI Pro Box Mod, a magnetic ring/connector for the atomizer, a USB charging cable and a user manual.
Size Dimensions of Yocan UNI Pro Box Mod
The Yocan UNI looks like a typical box mod device. But as this is designed for vaping pre-filled cartridges, the style and design makes this device pretty unique in the league. The overall size of the device is pretty small. It is 3 inches tall, 1.4 inches wide and about an inch in thickness.
Overall Build Quality and Features of Yocan UNI Pro
The external texture has a rubberized like coating. This gives it a silky smooth and kind of easy-to-grip feel. But it is not as good at grip as it seems. On the front of the device, it has a fire button, LED screen and below the screen are two voltage control (up/down) buttons. It has a micro USB port just below the up/down buttons. If you turn the device around, you would see that there’s an atomizer adjusting wheel, a lanyard loop, a window to see how much e-liquid you have in your tank and an atomizer height control button.
Compatible with 510 Atomizers – Magnetic 510 Adapter
The UNI Pro is compatible with atomizers that have a 510 connection. But you can’t just drop a tank into the device. You need to use the included magnetic 510 adapter that comes with the UNI Pro box mod. It is easy to use, simply screw the adapter on to the atomizer you are using and then just drop it in the mod. It has a magnetic connection and you will feel the click as it sits in the position.
Atomizer Height Adjustment
When you have the tank in the chamber, you can adjust the height using the height adjustment switch/button on back of the device. There are three height settings to choose from and it depends upon your personal preference. However, because of the depth of the chamber your atomizer needs to be at least 42mm tall or it won’t come out of the top. The switch might feel a bit hard to move and I don’t know whether it’s just the case with me or they didn’t put much effort installing it.
The Aperture Adjustment Wheel
Once you are done with setting the height where you want it, you can tighten the tank down. The chamber fits atomizers between the diameters of 7 to 14 mm. As you can fit atomizer of different sizes, Yocan built this really interesting feature of aperture adjustment that allows you to tighten down the chamber so that your tank doesn’t move around and create disturbance. Since you can use tanks or cartomizers of different sizes, it’s a really nice feature of this device. It works great and it looks nice.
Turning the Yocan UNI Pro Device On and Screen Info
To turn the device on, click the fire/power button 5 times and to turn it off, repeat the same. This is an adjustable voltage device and you can set the voltage between 2 to 4.2 volts and as precise as 0.01 increments. The screen will show your voltage setting, the resistance of your atomizer and your vaping time (i-e how many seconds you are hitting while you vape).
10 Seconds Pre-Heat Timer
Yocan UNI Pro has a pre-heat time of 10 seconds like most of the other Yocan devices. You can turn on preheating by clicking the fire button twice and you can turn it off by clicking the fire button twice again before the 10 seconds time is up. The device runs at a very low voltage just to warm the e-liquid up so that you can get a nice hit when you are ready. It must be kept in mind that you cannot hit it while it is in preheating.
Passed Through Charging – 15 sec Cutoff & Short Circuit Protection
Yocan UNI Pro has passed through charging feature which means that it can be vaped while it’s plugged in charging. That’s always a nice feature to have. As far as the safety features are concerned, it does have a 15 second cutoff, short-circuit protection and low battery protection.
Battery and Charging
The UNI comes with a non-removable 650 mAh battery. I think that’s a decent battery for a small device like this. It will take around 90 minutes to charge but you will need to charge it according to your use and it will last for a day or two.
